Complete with real shepherds and sheep, oxen, donkeys and the three wise men on horseback, the Wintershall Nativity tells the story of the birth of Jesus and brings to life the real meaning of Christmas. It's a beautifully entertaining play for everyone, as well as a gentle reminder of the Christian principles which serve as guidelines for so many peoples' lives: love, kindness, care for all, patience and forgiveness. That said, you certainly don't have to be a Christian to appreciate and enjoy it. It takes place both inside and around the Holly Barn Theatre at Wintershall, a huge rural estate of mature woodland and farmland that's a haven for wildlife and in recent years has become famous for staging unique, grand-scale plays such as this one that spread out over the full expanse of the estate.
